The best bond you’ll ever build with your dog.

Agility is part obstacle course, part dance, part sport — and it’s pure joy for your dog. Run tunnels, leap jumps, weave poles. Compete or just play. Any dog, any breed, any age can do this.

Why your dog will love it

Agility is the closest thing to a job most pet dogs ever get — and they love every minute of it.

Exercise

Builds endurance, tones muscles, and burns excess energy — so your dog is better-behaved at home.

Alertness

Engages the same coordination skills dogs evolved to use — harmlessly, with no one getting hurt.

Bonding

A team sport — you and your dog working together strengthens trust like nothing else.

Confidence

Mentally agile, physically fit, in sync with you — your dog becomes a more confident animal everywhere.

How we teach agility

Positive reinforcement only. We meet you and your dog exactly where you are — and build from there.

Start small

Start small.

Equipment stays low to the ground. Tunnels are short. Your dog learns each obstacle is safe and rewarding.

Start small

Build confidence.

Lots of praise, treats, and patience. We celebrate the wins — even the tiny ones — until your dog is fearless.

Start small

Run real courses.

As your dog progresses, you’ll learn distance work and complex handling — eventually running full NADAC-style courses.

Most of our students come for the joy of it — the exercise, the bond, the look on their dog’s face after nailing a course. Some go on to compete in NADAC trials. Whichever path you’re on, the teaching is the same: patient, positive, and built around your dog.

Three ways to train

New to agility? Start with Beginner. Already trained? We’ll place you in the right ability group. Competing seriously? Take a private lesson.

Beginner Agility

Your dog’s introduction to agility equipment — all kept low to the ground while you both learn the basics together.

  • Meet each obstacle in a positive, low-pressure way
  • Build handler skills — directing your dog from obstacle to obstacle
  • Condition your dog for the sport
  • Some off-leash work by the end of the session

6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
This will be a 6 week session.

Continuing Agility

Once you’ve got the fundamentals, you’ll join a class grouped by ability — not skill level. Whether your goal is fun, fitness, or chasing titles, you’ll find your place.

  • Equipment progresses to full height — at the right jump height for your dog’s size
  • Learn distance work and more complex handling
  • Run full courses, NADAC-style
  • Prep for trials if you want to compete

Rolling Registration
During your beginner session and all that follow, you’ll be given information on continuing enrollment.

Private Lessons

One-on-one with Karen, focused entirely on your team. Most of our private students are competing in NADAC and want to sharpen specific skills, dial in handling, or work through a particular obstacle. If you’re chasing titles or refining your run, this is where it happens.

  • Targeted skill work for trial-bound teams
  • Course strategy, handling refinements, obstacle-specific drills
  • Scheduled directly with Karen — no online booking

Meet Karen

Karen Hough owns Field of Dreams and heads up the agility program. She’s been competing in NADAC for nearly 20 years and has earned numerous titles and awards over her career — most recently, the 2025 NADAC National Championship in the X-Large division with her dog Bosch.

Her teaching is patient, positive, and built around small wins. The joy in her voice doesn’t change whether she’s coaching a first-timer or running a championship course herself.

“My favorite part is being out here, playing agility.”

Why we chose the North American Dog Agility Council

NADAC is one of the major agility sanctioning bodies in North America — and their philosophy matches ours exactly. Fast, flowing courses. Positive methods only. Absolutely no harsh corrections allowed.

You don’t have to compete to take classes. But if you ever want to — you’re already training in the system you’ll be running.

What makes NADAC different:

  • Any dog can play. Pure-bred, mixed-breed, Junior handlers, Veterans (7+), even disabled dogs in adapted classes.

  • Jump height matches your dog’s size — not their skill level. Tiny dog, tiny jumps. Big dog, bigger jumps.

  • Train in the ring. NADAC actively encourages teaching during runs — kindly and positively, never with corrections.

  • Real progression. Skilled and Proficient categories, titles, championships — a clear path if you want to compete.

What to know before you start

Is my dog a good fit?

Just about any dog can play agility at Field of Dreams. Pure-bred, mixed-breed, big, small, young, or old. The only real prerequisite is that your dog is healthy enough for moderate exercise and reasonably comfortable around other dogs.

How high will my dog have to jump?

Jump height in NADAC is based on your dog’s measured height — not their experience or skill. Your dog will always jump what’s right for their body

Do I have to want to compete?

No. Plenty of our students take agility purely for fun, fitness, and the bond it builds. If you do want to compete in NADAC trials someday, we’ll get you ready — but it’s never required.
